A representative case involving a salaried applicant preparing an Australia Visitor visa (Subclass 600) application for tourism.

Identifying details are omitted or generalised; the case illustrates the type of preparation work and reasoning IndoWorld applies to this kind of application.

LIMITS OF THIS CASE

What This Case Does Not Prove

This representative case is not evidence of an approval probability or success rate, and it is not a guarantee of any outcome. It does not describe a real client’s decision, timeline or result, and it should not be read as a prediction for any other applicant. See the other Australia visitor visa representative case studies for differently structured examples.

The official Tourist stream page states the money requirement as having, or having access to, enough money to support yourself in Australia, and lists documents such as itemised bank statements and pay slips only as examples (“this could include”). It does not set a minimum bank balance or a fixed document set, and this case does not show that any particular set of documents is enough.

OFFICIAL GUIDANCE

What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show

This is general guidance from the Australian Department of Home Affairs for a salaried applicant planning a holiday in Australia on a Visitor visa (subclass 600), the visa people often call a tourist visa. It is not a description of the case above.

  • What the Tourist stream asks. You must meet the health and character requirements, have paid any debts to the Australian Government, have or have access to enough money, and be a genuine visitor (Tourist stream page).
  • Money documents. Examples listed: itemised personal bank statements for a three-month period, pay slips, audited accounts, tax records, term deposits and credit card statements. For a salaried applicant, pay slips and statements are the obvious pair.
  • Reasons to return home. A letter from the employer stating you plan to return to your job is the first example Home Affairs gives, followed by study proof, close family at home, proof you can return and property.
  • Plans. Your plans while in Australia are named as part of the proof you are a genuine visitor.
  • Stay period. Length is decided case by case; three months is generally granted and up to 12 months in certain circumstances. The visa does not allow work.
  • Accurate, genuine papers. See providing accurate information: documents must be genuine, verifiable and unaltered.

IF YOUR APPLICATION WAS REFUSED

If your application was refused: what to look for in the letter

If a salaried applicant was refused, read the requirement the letter names: be a genuine visitor or enough money to support yourself. Home Affairs says the letter also states whether you have a right to review (wording). Then set the reason beside the employment letter, pay slips and statements that were submitted. The Australia visitor visa refusal reasons page covers the grounds.

Have a refusal letter in front of you? You can email it and go through it with IndoWorld experts on a video call, a phone call or in person at the Vadodara office. They read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused, and there is no charge for the review of a refusal. See how to get your visitor / tourist visa refusal letter reviewed.
