What the Official Guidance Says an Applicant Like This Must Show
This is general guidance for a first-time New Zealand visitor visa applicant (the visa often called a tourist visa in India), taken from Immigration New Zealand. It is not a detail of the case above.
- INZ describes genuine intentions as planning to stay temporarily, coming for the reason given in the application, following the visa conditions, and having plans to leave at the end of the stay (INZ genuine intentions).
- A self-funded visitor needs at least NZD 1,000 for each month of stay, or NZD 400 a month if accommodation is prepaid; the evidence must show the account is in the applicant’s name, the bank and the currency (INZ visitor visa).
- The applicant must show they can leave: an onward ticket or proof of funds to buy one, in addition to the living funds (INZ visitor visa).
- Examples of home-country ties INZ names are employer leave approval, financial employment records, close relatives, property or business ownership, and proof of retirement or a pension (INZ genuine intentions).
- Travel plans can be shown with accommodation, attraction and transport bookings, and documents that are not in English need translations (INZ genuine intentions; INZ visitor visa).
If Your Application Was Refused: What to Look for in the Letter
INZ decline letters are written around the genuine intentions test and the funds requirement. The New Zealand genuine intentions row of the refusal letter wording guide reproduces INZ’s own wording so you can match it to your letter. INZ also explains what can follow a decline on its declined visa page. Our New Zealand visitor visa refusal reasons page, eligibility page and documents required page continue from there.
Have a refusal letter in front of you? You can email it to IndoWorld. The experts read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused. The review of a refusal is done at no charge, by video call, phone call or in person at the Vadodara office. See how to get your visitor / tourist visa refusal letter reviewed.
