What the Official Guidance Says an Applicant Like This Must Show
This is general guidance for a self-employed applicant visiting family in New Zealand on a visitor visa (often called a tourist visa in India), taken from Immigration New Zealand. It is not a detail of the case above.
- INZ may ask for the names, contact details and visa or citizenship status of family or friends in New Zealand (INZ genuine intentions).
- A host can act as sponsor by completing the Sponsorship Form for Temporary Entry (INZ 1025) with supporting documents such as recent bank statements and pay slips; the sponsor is responsible for the visitor while in New Zealand (INZ visitor visa).
- Ownership of a business, with financial records, is among the home-country ties INZ lists (INZ genuine intentions).
- A self-funded visitor needs NZD 1,000 a month, or NZD 400 if accommodation is prepaid, shown by statements in the applicant’s own name (INZ visitor visa). A sponsor’s bank statements can show the cost of a ticket can be met.
- Documents that are not in English must come with translations (INZ visitor visa).
- A visitor visa does not permit work, so the trip should be described as a family visit and not as a business activity in New Zealand (INZ visitor visa).
If Your Application Was Refused: What to Look for in the Letter
If a family-visit application was declined, read how the letter treats funds, the sponsor and genuine intentions. The genuine intentions row of the refusal letter wording guide reproduces INZ’s wording. Our New Zealand visitor visa refusal reasons page and the sponsorship page explain what each part of a sponsored visit file is for.
Have a refusal letter in front of you? You can email it to IndoWorld. The experts read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused. The review of a refusal is done at no charge, by video call, phone call or in person at the Vadodara office. See how to get your visitor / tourist visa refusal letter reviewed.
