WHAT THIS DEMONSTRATES

What This Case Demonstrates

This case shows why funds-evidence concerns often call for clearer explanation rather than simply resubmitting the same figures. See the IndoWorld Refusal-to-Remedy Framework for more on this reasoning.

If funds were questioned on an earlier application, our New Zealand visitor visa financial requirements page is the most relevant next read. OFFICIAL GUIDANCE

What the Official Guidance Says an Applicant Like This Must Show

This is general guidance for a business owner applying again for a New Zealand visitor visa (the visa often called a tourist visa in India) after an earlier decline, taken from Immigration New Zealand. It is not a detail of the case above.

  • A self-funded visitor needs at least NZD 1,000 a month, or NZD 400 a month when accommodation is prepaid; the evidence must show the account is in the applicant’s name, the bank and the currency (INZ visitor visa).
  • Acceptable evidence of funds includes bank or credit card statements, bank drafts, prepaid accommodation receipts and a sponsor’s statement (INZ visitor visa; INZ genuine intentions).
  • The money for an onward ticket must be in addition to the living funds (INZ visitor visa).
  • INZ lists declined applications among the evidence it may ask about: a refusal letter from another country, or an explanation if the letter is unavailable (INZ genuine intentions).
  • False or misleading information, or withholding relevant information, may lead to a decline and can affect later applications on character grounds (INZ false or misleading information).
  • INZ’s reconsideration option for temporary visas has conditions, including applying while in New Zealand, still being there when asking, and a 14-day deadline (INZ reconsideration).
REFUSAL LETTER

If Your Application Was Refused: What to Look for in the Letter

If a decline cited funds, check whether the letter speaks of the amount, of where the money came from, or of genuine intentions. The genuine intentions row of the refusal letter wording guide reproduces INZ’s own sentence on genuine intentions. INZ describes the options after a decline on its declined visa page. Our New Zealand visitor visa refusal reasons page and financial requirements page explain how funds are read.

Have a refusal letter in front of you? You can email it to IndoWorld. The experts read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused. The review of a refusal is done at no charge, by video call, phone call or in person at the Vadodara office. See how to get your visitor / tourist visa refusal letter reviewed.
