WHAT THIS DEMONSTRATES

What This Case Demonstrates

A family event explains why the grandparents want to travel, but it does not replace the Super Visa eligibility requirements. Purpose, duration, host eligibility and funding all have to line up.

IndoWorld’s guidance follows the guidelines IRCC publishes on its website; the decision on every application rests with IRCC. IndoWorld tells a family upfront if a file looks weak, and nothing here is a promise of approval. The Canada visitor visa vs Super Visa guide helps match the route to the plan.

OFFICIAL GUIDANCE

What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show

This is general guidance from IRCC for grandparents applying for a Super Visa to visit family in Canada. It does not describe the case above.

  • Check the host first. The eligibility page says the host must be the applicant’s biological or adopted child or grandchild, a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or registered Indian, at least 18 and living in Canada.
  • Match the route to the length of stay. The Super Visa overview says visits can last up to 5 years and points applicants staying 6 months or less to the visitor visa instead.
  • What the letter should say. IRCC’s letter of invitation page lists the trip purpose, length of stay, accommodation, payment arrangements and planned departure date, and says an invitation does not mean a visa will be issued.
  • Prove the relationship. The forms and documents page asks for the host’s birth or baptismal certificate, or another official document naming the applicant as parent or grandparent.
  • The visitor tests still apply. IRCC’s eligibility page says it looks at whether the applicant will leave Canada by choice at the end of the visit, ties to the home country, the purpose of the visit, and family and finances.
  • Insurance covers each entry. Under the insurance rules the policy must be valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry and for each entry to Canada.

IF YOUR APPLICATION WAS REFUSED

If your application was refused: what to look for in the letter

A birth in the family gives a clear reason to travel, yet a refusal can still question the purpose. Look for a line that the purpose of the visit is not consistent with a temporary stay, and compare it with the proposed length of stay and the ties described. A line about significant family ties in Canada or about not being satisfied the applicant will depart Canada at the end of the authorized stay is worth reading against the grandparents’ circumstances in India. The refusal reasons guide explains these grounds.

Have a refusal letter in front of you? Clients email their documents, and the review takes place by video call, phone call or in person at the Vadodara office. There is no charge for the review of a refusal: IndoWorld experts read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused. You can start on the visitor / tourist visa refusal letter review page.
