APPLICANT SITUATION

The Applicant’s Situation

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

What the Assessment Identified

The applicant needed to establish whether the new facts addressed the issues relevant to the earlier decision.

FOCUS AREA

Key Focus of This Case

Testing whether the change in circumstances is real, demonstrable and relevant to the earlier refusal before a new application is made.

PROCESS STAGE

Where This Case Reached

The documents were organised and reviewed as described above. This representative case does not describe a decision; the decision on every Visitor visa (subclass 600) application rests with the Department of Home Affairs.

WHAT THIS DEMONSTRATES

What This Case Demonstrates

A material change should be demonstrable and relevant; a new application is not a promise of a different decision. This case shows why the earlier refusal is the starting point, not something to leave out. See the IndoWorld Refusal-to-Remedy Framework and the previous visa refusal preparation guide for how a reapplication is built.

The main Australia visitor visa page covers the full route, and the Australia visitor visa refusal reasons page explains the usual grounds. IndoWorld gives an honest read of an application, including where the evidence looks weak, and does not promise an outcome.

OFFICIAL GUIDANCE

What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show

This is general guidance drawn from the Department of Home Affairs for an applicant applying again for a Visitor visa (subclass 600), the visitor / tourist visa for Australia, after a refusal. It does not describe the case above.

  • The refusal comes in writing. The Home Affairs tourist stream page says that if a visa is refused the applicant is told in writing why, and whether there is a right to a review of the decision, so that notice is the document a new application starts from.
  • The same two tests apply again. A new application is again measured against being a genuine visitor who intends to stay temporarily and obey the visa conditions, and having, or having access to, enough money for the stay.
  • Update the evidence, not just the form. The page lists current examples: itemised personal bank statements for a 3 month period, pay slips, audited accounts, tax records, and proof of reasons to return home such as employment, study, family or major assets.
  • Accuracy about the past matters. Home Affairs says false or misleading information may lead to refusal, cancellation of a visa and restrictions on future applications (providing accurate information), so the account of the earlier refusal in a new application should be accurate.
  • Aim for a decision-ready file. Home Affairs asks applicants to check they have given all required documents and correct information, and to include as much information as possible because an application may be decided without a request for more (check twice, submit once).
  • Applicants apply from outside Australia. For this stream the applicant must be outside Australia when applying and when the visa is decided, and must intend to come to Australia to visit only.

For plain-language checklists, see Australia visitor visa documents required and the Australia visitor visa eligibility page.

IF YOUR APPLICATION WAS REFUSED

If your application was refused: what to look for in the letter

If you are thinking of applying again, start with the refusal notice. Home Affairs says it states why the visa was refused and whether you have a right to a review (see that wording). Check whether the notice rests on the requirement to be a genuine visitor or on having enough money, then list what has changed since and which document shows it. The wording guide carries only Home Affairs’ own published wording for Australia, and the Australia visitor visa refusal reasons page explains how the usual grounds are read.

Have a refusal letter in front of you? Clients email their documents, and the review takes place by video call, phone call or in person at the Vadodara office. There is no charge for the review of a refusal: IndoWorld experts read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused. You can start on the visitor / tourist visa refusal letter review page.
