What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show
This is general guidance from IRCC and Canadian law for a salaried applicant planning a holiday in Canada on a Canada visitor visa (the temporary resident visa, often called a tourist visa). It does not describe the case above.
- The three points. IRCC’s eligibility page asks an applicant to convince an officer of ties (a job, home, financial assets or family), of leaving at the end of the visit, and of having enough money for the stay.
- Passport and stamps. The how-to-apply page asks for a clear colour copy of the passport page with birth date and country, plus any pages with stamps, visas or markings. Past travel therefore shows up through the passport pages submitted.
- Your personalized checklist decides the upload list. IRCC says the portal generates a checklist and that all listed documents must be provided; the visa office may add requirements.
- Money. The amount depends on the length of stay and whether you stay in a hotel or with friends or relatives. No fixed figure is published on the eligibility page, so proof of funds should be matched to the planned trip.
- The test in law. Section 179 of the Regulations requires that the applicant will leave Canada by the end of the authorized stay, and section 183 fixes the authorized period (six months unless an officer sets another).
- Incomplete files. IRCC states on its after-you-apply page that an incomplete application may be refused.

If your application was refused: what to look for in the letter
If a tourism application is refused, look for leave at the end of the authorized stay, assets and financial situation insufficient for the stated purpose or purpose not consistent with a temporary stay, and read the officer decision note sent with most temporary resident refusals for the detail. The Canada visitor visa refusal reasons page covers the common grounds.
Have a refusal letter in front of you? You can email it and go through it with IndoWorld experts on a video call, a phone call or in person at the Vadodara office. They read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused, and there is no charge for the review of a refusal. See how to get your visitor / tourist visa refusal letter reviewed.
