APPLICANT SITUATION

The Applicant’s Situation

The applicant held a salaried position and needed to travel to Canada for a short period to attend a family wedding, with fixed event dates.

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

What the Assessment Identified

The initial review found that the itinerary needed to be tightly aligned with the wedding dates and the invitation, since a short, fixed-purpose trip benefits from a clearly matched timeline.

WHAT THIS DEMONSTRATES

What This Case Demonstrates

This case shows why a short, event-specific trip is strongest when every document — invitation, itinerary, and leave documentation — tells the same, tightly matched story. See the IndoWorld Application Intelligence Framework for more on this reasoning.

For trips built around a fixed family event, our Canada invitation letter guide is the most useful companion to this case. The overall route is described on our Canada visitor visa page, and salaried applicants in Gujarat can find our remote process on the Gujarat Canada visitor visa consultant page.

OFFICIAL GUIDANCE

What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show

This is general guidance from IRCC and Canadian law for a salaried applicant travelling to Canada for a family wedding on a Canada visitor visa (the temporary resident visa, often called a tourist visa). It does not describe the case above.

  • The host letter carries the event details. IRCC’s letter of invitation page says the host should state their relationship to you, the purpose of the trip, how long you plan to stay, where you will stay, how you will pay and when you plan to leave, and attach a document proving their status in Canada.
  • Ask for the period you need. Under section 183 of the Regulations the authorized period of stay is six months or another period fixed by an officer based on the means of support, the period applied for and the passport’s expiry. The stay you request should therefore fit the event dates and your employer-confirmed leave.
  • Return ties. The eligibility page names a job, home, financial assets and family as ties that take you back. A salaried applicant’s employment letter and leave approval address the first of these.
  • Use your checklist. IRCC says the online portal produces a personalized document checklist and that the visa office may require more; see how to apply.
  • Book biometrics early. IRCC’s after-you-apply page advises booking the biometrics appointment as soon as possible and says processing times vary, so fixed event dates are a reason to apply with time in hand rather than to assume a speed.

IF YOUR APPLICATION WAS REFUSED

If your application was refused: what to look for in the letter

If a wedding trip was refused, look at how the notice treats the purpose (not consistent with a temporary stay), whether it questions departure (depart at the end of the authorized stay) and how it describes family in Canada (significant family ties in Canada). Family in Canada can be read as a reason to stay as well as a reason to visit, so the home-side evidence matters. The Canada visitor visa refusal reasons page explains the grounds.

Have a refusal letter in front of you? You can email it and go through it with IndoWorld experts on a video call, a phone call or in person at the Vadodara office. They read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused, and there is no charge for the review of a refusal. See how to get your visitor / tourist visa refusal letter reviewed.
