How to Use This Checklist
Every Schengen consulate requires a similar core set of documents, though specific consulates (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, etc.) may have additional requirements. This list covers the universal mandatory documents plus commonly requested supporting documents.
Apply at the consulate of your main destination country — the country where you will spend the most nights. If equal nights, apply at the first country you enter.
Category 1: Visa Application Form
- Completed Schengen visa application form Mandatory — Downloaded from the consulate website or filled online via VFS/BLS portal
- 2 recent passport-size photographs Mandatory — 35mm × 45mm, white background, taken within last 3 months, face clearly visible
- Signed consent/declaration form (for minors) If applicable
- Original valid passport Mandatory — Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your return date, with at least 2 blank pages

- Bank statement must be on bank letterhead with bank seal/stamp Mandatory

- Fixed deposit certificates / mutual fund statements Supporting

- NOC (No Objection Certificate) from employer / institution Mandatory — Confirms leave is approved and you will return
- Proof of residence in India Mandatory — Aadhaar card, utility bill, rental agreement, or property documents
- Marriage certificate If applicable — Required for spousal applications or if applying together as a couple
- Birth certificate of children If applicable — For minor children on the application
- Proof of travel ties — property ownership, LIC policy, vehicle RC Supporting — Shows strong ties to India and intent to return

- Show additional ties to India (property, family, employment)
