IndoWorld Decision Principles

Ten principles that describe how we think about visa and immigration application preparation, underlying everything else on this site.

1

Eligibility is not the same as approval.

Meeting the minimum published criteria for a route means a case can be considered. It does not mean it will succeed. Entering the Express Entry pool, for example, does not by itself bring an invitation, as the Express Entry CRS review case shows.

2

More documents do not automatically create a stronger application.

A document only adds strength if it genuinely supports a claim and agrees with the rest of the file. Volume is not the same as quality.

3

Financial evidence must be understood in context.

A balance means something different depending on the income pattern, the applicant’s profile, and how it was accumulated. A number alone tells an incomplete story.

4

A refusal should be understood before a reapplication is prepared.

Reapplying with the same weaknesses, just more paperwork around them, rarely changes the outcome.

5

A technically available route may not be the appropriate route.

Fit matters as much as eligibility — for the applicant’s actual objective, timeline, and evidence position. An applicant with a job lead in Germany, for instance, may be better served by comparing the Opportunity Card with a direct skilled-worker route before choosing either.

6

Unsupported claims should not be made.

Every important assertion in an application should have evidence behind it, or it should not be asserted as fact.

7

Government requirements must be distinguished from professional interpretation.

We say clearly when something is an official rule versus our own read on how evidence is likely to be received.

8

Application weaknesses should be identified before submission.

Finding a gap after filing is too late. The review has to happen while there’s still time to address it.

9

Evidence should support the claims made, not the other way around.

We don’t start from a desired narrative and look for documents to fit it. We start from what the evidence actually shows.

10

If an application is not ready, saying so is better than rushing it.

A short delay to strengthen a genuine weakness is usually a better outcome than an early refusal that then has to be overcome.

How We Assess an Application

Visa requirements are the starting point, but we also look at the application circumstances, proposed route, evidence and overall consistency together.
