INITIAL ASSESSMENT

What the Assessment Identified

The financial evidence needed to explain the actual business position and avoid implying that one month’s balance represented stable income.

FOCUS AREA

  • Business records
  • Account transactions
  • Income history
  • Travel costs and the applicant’s ongoing responsibilities
PROCESS STAGE

Where This Case Reached

The documents were organised and reviewed as described above. This representative case does not describe a decision; the decision on every Visitor visa (subclass 600) application rests with the Department of Home Affairs.

WHAT THIS DEMONSTRATES

What This Case Demonstrates

Fluctuating income should be explained through the records that exist; do not substitute a single balance for the wider financial picture. This case shows why the source and pattern of money matter as much as the figure. See the IndoWorld Refusal-to-Remedy Framework and the business owner visa preparation guide for how business files are read.

The main Australia visitor visa page covers the full route, and the Australia visitor visa financial requirements page explains how funds are assessed. IndoWorld gives an honest read of an application, including where the evidence looks weak, and does not promise an outcome.

OFFICIAL GUIDANCE

What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show

This is general guidance drawn from the Department of Home Affairs for a business owner applying for a Visitor visa (subclass 600), the visitor / tourist visa for Australia, whose income has recently varied. It does not describe the case above.

  • Two tests sit behind the visa. The Home Affairs tourist stream page says the applicant must have, or have access to, enough money to support themselves in Australia, and must be a genuine visitor who intends to stay temporarily and obey the visa conditions.
  • The page names the money evidence. For proof of enough money for the stay and to leave Australia, it gives examples such as itemised personal bank statements for a 3 month period, pay slips, audited accounts, tax records, term deposits and credit card statements.
  • A business owner has more records to draw on. Audited accounts and tax records are on that list, so the pattern of business income can be shown by documents other than a balance on one date.
  • Reasons to return are listed. The same page gives examples such as a letter from an employer, proof of study, immediate family in the home country, proof the applicant can return home, and ownership of a house or other major assets.
  • Say enough the first time. Home Affairs asks applicants to include as much information as possible and notes the application may be decided without a request for further information, so an unusual income pattern is better explained in the file than left to be asked about. Its check twice, submit once page asks for all required documents and correct information.
  • Documents must be genuine. Home Affairs says documents and information must be genuine, verifiable and unaltered, and that false or misleading information may lead to refusal and restrictions on future applications (providing accurate information).

For plain-language checklists, see Australia visitor visa documents required and the Australia visitor visa FAQs.

IF YOUR APPLICATION WAS REFUSED

If your application was refused: what to look for in the letter

If an earlier Australian application was refused, Home Affairs says it will tell you in writing why, and whether you have a right to a review of the decision (see that wording). Check whether the notice turns on the requirement to be a genuine visitor or on having enough money, because the two ask different things of a business owner’s records. The wording guide carries only Home Affairs’ own published wording for Australia, and the Australia visitor visa refusal reasons page explains how the usual grounds are read.

Have a refusal letter in front of you? Clients email their documents, and the review takes place by video call, phone call or in person at the Vadodara office. There is no charge for the review of a refusal: IndoWorld experts read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused. You can start on the visitor / tourist visa refusal letter review page.
