Canada PR Case: Applicant Nominated by a Province, Preparing the PR Application
A representative case involving an applicant who received a provincial nomination and needed to prepare the resulting permanent residence application.
Applicant names and identifying details have been withheld or generalized to protect client confidentiality. This case study describes the type of application work handled by IndoWorld and the preparation approach used, without disclosing personally identifying information or a specific visa decision. This is a representative, anonymized case study. It is not a real client experience and does not describe a documented client outcome; for published client stories, see Client Experiences.
At a Glance
The Applicant’s Situation
The applicant had received a nomination from a Provincial Nominee Program stream and needed to prepare the full permanent residence application that followed.
What the Assessment Identified
The initial review found that the nomination details and the applicant’s Express Entry profile needed to be checked for consistency, because IRCC requires an accepted nomination in the profile before an invitation to apply can be issued.
Key Focus of This Case
Aligning the provincial nomination with the Express Entry profile and preparing the complete supporting document package.
What IndoWorld Actually Did
- Confirmed the nomination certificate details against the Express Entry profile
- Checked that the nomination was reflected in the Express Entry profile, including the additional points IRCC awards for an accepted nomination
- Prepared supporting documents for the resulting permanent residence application
- Reviewed the full application package for consistency
Evidence and Documentation Considered
- Provincial nomination certificate
- Updated Express Entry profile
- Supporting identity and background documents
Where This Case Reached
This representative case does not state an invitation to apply, a filing date or a decision outcome. It describes the preparation work shown above.
What This Case Illustrates
This case illustrates why a provincial nomination still requires careful alignment with the federal Express Entry system rather than being treated as a separate, standalone step. See the IndoWorld Application Intelligence Framework for more on this reasoning.
Once a nomination is in hand, the Canada PR documents checklist is the most useful reference for the supporting package that follows. See our Canada permanent residency overview for the complete pathway, or the Gujarat Canada PR page for how we support nominees applying from Gujarat.
What This Case Does Not Prove
This is a representative, anonymized case, not a record of a real client file or a real client experience. It is not evidence of approval probability or a success rate, and it is not a guarantee of any outcome for another applicant. Invitations, nominations and permanent residence decisions are made by IRCC or the province or territory concerned, and each application is assessed on its own facts and evidence.
- It does not show that a provincial nomination leads to an invitation to apply or to permanent residence. The province decides nominations, and IRCC decides invitations and permanent residence applications.
- It does not state a province, a stream or a points total.
What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show
Once a province nominates an applicant, IRCC’s pages explain what changes in the Express Entry profile and what follows. These points are general guidance from those pages, not a description of a real nomination.
- Points for a nomination. Applicants nominated under an Express Entry-linked stream create a profile and receive 600 extra points, which IRCC says helps them get invited to apply. IRCC: Provincial Nominee Program ↗
- Keeping the nomination valid. If a province withdraws a nomination, IRCC says the applicant must follow the steps for their situation or may be found ineligible. If it is withdrawn after the application is filed, the application will be refused and fees are not refunded. IRCC: get or confirm a nomination ↗
- Documents. IRCC’s list of documents to have ready names the provincial nomination among them, alongside the passport, language results, education assessment, work experience proof, proof of funds and police certificates. IRCC: documents to have ready ↗
- Background checks and biometrics. After applying, IRCC checks admissibility using a medical exam, police certificates and background checks, and applicants have 30 days from the date on the letter to give biometrics. IRCC: after you apply ↗
- Reporting changes. IRCC states that applicants must tell it if plans, family, contact details, job or education change. IRCC: after you apply ↗
If your application was refused – what to look for in the letter
A refusal on a nominee case can turn on the nomination (for example, that it was withdrawn), on a requirement of the federal programme, or on admissibility. Look for which of these the letter relies on, since only the province can decide a nomination. IRCC’s Express Entry page says a new profile is needed to be considered again after a refusal or rejection (IRCC: after you apply ↗). The Canada PR documents required page and the Canada PR refusal and misrepresentation page cover related preparation, and any earlier visa refusal should be declared accurately wherever the forms ask.
Have a refusal letter in front of you?
If a nomination, a PR application or an earlier visa application was refused, you can email the letter and the application documents to IndoWorld. IndoWorld experts read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused. The review can be done by video call, phone call or in person at the Vadodara office, and there is no charge for the review of a refusal. Get your refusal letter reviewed.
Official Source
This case relates to requirements set by IRCC — Express Entry. IndoWorld’s role is practical preparation and guidance; visa and immigration decisions are made solely by the relevant government authority.
Under IRCC’s process for Express Entry-linked nominations, the province or territory confirms the nomination electronically, the candidate has 30 calendar days to accept or reject it before any invitation to apply, an accepted nomination adds 600 CRS points, and the province or territory sends a paper copy of the nomination certificate. Nominations outside Express Entry follow a separate application process.
