At a Glance
The Applicant’s Situation
The applicant needed to obtain a language certificate as part of the points criteria, and the timing of the test needed to be coordinated with the overall application plan.
What the Assessment Identified
The initial review found that without early planning, the language test scheduling could delay the entire application.
Key Focus of This Case
Building a realistic timeline that accounted for language test scheduling and result processing.
What IndoWorld Actually Did
- Reviewed the language requirement and current certificate options
- Coordinated the applicant’s language test scheduling with the overall application timeline
- Organized other supporting documents while awaiting the test result
- Finalized the points calculation once the language result was available
Evidence and Documentation Considered
- Language test registration and result
- Supporting qualification documents
Where This Case Reached
The language certificate was obtained and the application was completed and prepared for submission.
What This Case Demonstrates
This case shows why timeline planning around external requirements like language tests is part of genuine case preparation. See the IndoWorld Application Intelligence Framework for more on this reasoning.
Our Opportunity Card processing time page helps place language-test scheduling within a realistic overall timeline. The full route is described on the Germany Opportunity Card page, and applicants in Gujarat can start from our Gujarat Opportunity Card consultant page.
What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show
Language evidence is part of the Opportunity Card for applicants who are not skilled workers, and the mission sets out exactly what it accepts. These points are general guidance, not a description of a real applicant.
- Minimum level. An applicant who is not a skilled worker needs A1 German or B2 English, and language skills also earn points. Federal Ministry of the Interior: Opportunity Card points system ↗
- German certificates. The German Mission in India asks for a certificate from a recognised provider, giving the Goethe-Institut, ÖSD and telc as examples. German Mission India: Opportunity Card ↗
- English certificates. English must be shown by a certificate meeting ALTE standards or a TOEFL, and the mission states that results from Pearson PTE, Duolingo or the online TOEFL are not accepted as proof in India. German Mission India: Opportunity Card ↗
- Timing and verification. The mission may ask for additional documents or verification of certificates, with additional fees, and incomplete documentation may lead to rejection, so test dates should leave time before the application. German Mission India: Opportunity Card ↗
- Recognition has its own timeline. Recognition of a qualification is a procedure separate from the visa, so that process should be planned alongside the language test. Anerkennung in Deutschland: immigration of skilled workers ↗
If your application was refused – what to look for in the letter
If a rejection letter refers to language, check whether it concerns the test provider, the level, or the certificate itself, and compare with the mission’s list of accepted certificates. The German Mission in India states that the rejection letter already gives the reason, that the visa section does not add explanations by email, and that an applicant may apply again at any time or file a lawsuit against the rejection within one month at the administrative court in Berlin (the remonstration procedure is no longer available at the German visa sections in India). German Mission India: if a national visa application is rejected ↗ It also warns that knowingly false or incomplete information can lead to refusal. German Mission India: declaration on true and complete information ↗ Our Opportunity Card language requirements and application process pages explain the main requirement areas.
