They should answer three questions for the Entry Clearance Officer: who are you, can you afford this trip, and why will you return home afterwards? - Large or recent deposit: the source document (sale deed, gift deed, maturity certificate or similar) with a brief explanation
- Self-employed applicant: business registration, ITRs and a note on who runs the business while you are away
- Retired applicant: pension statements, plus the family and property ties that remain in India
- Employment gap or career break: an explanation letter with supporting records
- Relationship to a host: family documents or correspondence that back up the relationship stated in the invitation letter
- Earlier visa refusal: declare it consistently on the form and explain what has changed since
Formatting & Submission Tips
Submit documents as clear, legible scans in the format specified by the application portal. Arrange them logically (identity, finances, accommodation, itinerary, purpose-specific letters) so a caseworker can follow your case easily. Translate any non-English document and attach the translation alongside the original.
