WHAT THIS DEMONSTRATES

What This Case Demonstrates

A policy summary should not be accepted without checking the policy terms and the requirements they have to meet. A document that looks complete can still fail on a date, a provider or a missing line.

IndoWorld’s guidance follows the guidelines IRCC publishes on its website; the decision on every application rests with IRCC. When a document does not meet the requirement, the family is told upfront, and nothing here is a promise of approval. The Canada Super Visa insurance guide covers the cover IRCC asks for.

OFFICIAL GUIDANCE

What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show

This is general guidance from IRCC on Super Visa health insurance and the medical exam. It does not describe the case above.

  • Who may issue the policy. The insurance section says the insurer must be a Canadian company or a foreign company authorized by OSFI that appears on OSFI’s list and issued the policy while doing business in Canada. Brokers and claims administrators are not insurers.
  • What the policy must contain. It should name the insurer, be valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry, cover health care, hospitalization and repatriation, provide minimum emergency coverage of $100,000, and be valid for each entry to Canada.
  • Payment status matters. The policy should be paid in full or in instalments with a deposit; quotes are not accepted.
  • Foreign insurers need a statement. Policies from a foreign insurer must include a statement that the document was issued while the company was doing insurance business in Canada.
  • Renew if it will expire early. If the policy will expire before the holder leaves Canada, IRCC says to renew it, and it must be available for border services officers to review.
  • Medical proof. The medical exam page says the exam must be with a panel physician and can be done upfront, and that results are valid for 12 months.

IF YOUR APPLICATION WAS REFUSED

If your application was refused: what to look for in the letter

A document-related refusal usually names the requirement that was not met. Match that sentence to the matching IRCC checklist item, such as insurance, the medical exam or the letter of invitation, rather than to the whole file. Where the same notice also says there was not enough evidence of sufficient funds or that the assets and financial situation are insufficient, those lines are separate and can be read against the host’s and parent’s records on their own. The refusal reasons guide explains the common grounds.

Have a refusal letter in front of you? IndoWorld experts read it and compare it with the application that was refused. Documents are sent by email, the review is held by video call, phone call or at the Vadodara office, and there is no charge for the review of a refusal. Start from the refusal letter review page.
