REPRESENTATIVE CASE STUDY

Canada PR Case: Applicant With Education From Multiple Institutions

A representative case involving an applicant coordinating an educational credential assessment across degrees from two different institutions.

Applicant names and identifying details have been withheld or generalized to protect client confidentiality. This case study describes the type of application work handled by IndoWorld and the preparation approach used, without disclosing personally identifying information or a specific visa decision. This is a representative, anonymized case study. It is not a real client experience and does not describe a documented client outcome; for published client stories, see Client Experiences.

APPLICANT SITUATION

The Applicant’s Situation

The applicant held two degrees from different institutions in different countries, both of which needed to be assessed for Express Entry education points.

INITIAL ASSESSMENT

What the Assessment Identified

The initial review found that coordinating two separate credential assessments required careful attention to each institution’s own document requirements.

FOCUS AREA

Key Focus of This Case

Coordinating both credential assessments accurately and ensuring the combined result was reflected correctly in the profile.

CASE-HANDLING WORK

What IndoWorld Actually Did

  • Reviewed document requirements for each institution’s credential assessment
  • Coordinated submission of transcripts and degree certificates for assessment
  • Reviewed the completed assessment results for accuracy
  • Prepared the Express Entry profile reflecting the combined education points
EVIDENCE CONSIDERED

Evidence and Documentation Considered

  • Transcripts and degree certificates
  • Educational credential assessment results
PROCESS STAGE

Where This Case Reached

This representative case does not state the assessment results, an invitation to apply or a decision outcome. It describes the credential-assessment coordination shown above.

WHAT THIS ILLUSTRATES

What This Case Illustrates

This case illustrates why multiple-institution education histories need careful, sequential handling rather than being submitted all at once without coordination. See the IndoWorld Evidence Integrity Framework for more on this reasoning.

Because education points depend on how each credential is assessed, our Express Entry points calculator helps show where a second degree may or may not change the score. Read more about Canada permanent residency generally, or see the Canada permanent residency consultant page for Gujarat if you are applying from Gujarat.

LIMITS OF THIS CASE

What This Case Does Not Prove

This is a representative, anonymized case, not a record of a real client file or a real client experience. It is not evidence of approval probability or a success rate, and it is not a guarantee of any outcome for another applicant. Invitations, nominations and permanent residence decisions are made by IRCC or the province or territory concerned, and each application is assessed on its own facts and evidence.

  • It does not show any credential assessment result or the education points a profile earns.
  • It does not show that a second degree will add points. Whether it counts depends on IRCC’s rules and the designated organization’s assessment.

OFFICIAL REQUIREMENTS

What the official guidance says an applicant like this must show

IRCC explains in detail how an educational credential assessment works and how several credentials are treated. These points are general guidance from those pages, not the result of any real assessment.

  • Who needs an assessment. Education completed outside Canada needs an educational credential assessment to be eligible as principal applicant under the Federal Skilled Worker Program or to earn points for that education. IRCC: educational credential assessment ↗
  • Which credentials. In most cases only the highest level of education needs to be assessed. To earn points for two or more credentials, each one needs its own assessment. IRCC: educational credential assessment ↗
  • Full points for more than one credential. IRCC states that at least one of the credentials must be for a programme of three or more years, and that the order in which credentials were completed does not affect points. IRCC: educational credential assessment ↗
  • Designated organizations only. The assessment must come from an organization or professional body IRCC has designated. Each one sets how to submit documents, and processing times and costs vary. IRCC: educational credential assessment ↗
  • Validity and entry. The report must be less than five years old when the profile is completed and when the application is submitted; its result and reference number go into the profile, and originals are kept. IRCC: educational credential assessment ↗
IF AN APPLICATION WAS REFUSED

If your application was refused – what to look for in the letter

If a refusal or rejection letter mentions education, check whether the issue was a missing or expired assessment, a credential that was not assessed, or a result that did not match what the profile claimed. IRCC states that an application with an expired assessment will be refused. After a refusal or rejection, a new profile is needed to be considered again (IRCC: after you apply ↗). Our Canada PR documents required page lists what to prepare, and the Canada PR eligibility page explains the requirements, with any earlier visa refusal disclosed wherever the forms ask.

Have a refusal letter in front of you?

If an earlier application of yours was refused, you can email the letter and the application documents to IndoWorld. IndoWorld experts read the letter and compare it with the application that was refused. The review can be done by video call, phone call or in person at the Vadodara office, and there is no charge for the review of a refusal. Get your refusal letter reviewed.

SOURCE TRANSPARENCY

Official Source

This case relates to requirements set by IRCC — Express Entry. IndoWorld’s role is practical preparation and guidance; visa and immigration decisions are made solely by the relevant government authority.

IRCC requires an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from an IRCC-designated organization for education completed outside Canada. In most cases only the highest level of education needs to be assessed, but a separate assessment is needed for each credential an applicant wants to earn points for. An ECA must be less than five years old when the Express Entry profile is completed and the application is submitted.
